3rd Annual GSN Conference in Miami, FL

3rd Annual GSN Conference in Miami, FL

On October 14-15, 2021, the Miami Police Department, Shield Detail, hosted the 3rd Annual Global Shield Network Conference at the Marriott Biscayne Bay in Miami, FL. After a tough year of restrictions due to the pandemic, the conference was attended by 200 guests that included local, national, and international Shield partners, as well as several public-private sector partners that sponsored the conference.

On October 14, 2021, the Welcome Reception, held at the Marriott Biscayne Bay, kicked off the conference and served as the launching point to an exciting time in the “Magic City.” After some short introductions and what seemed to be a crowd-pleasing Miami Shield “Introduction Video,” the attendees were taken to Jungle Island for the Networking Event via luxury transportation that was escorted by a full Miami Police escort.

The “Miami Nights” themed network event continued show casing the Global Shield Network’s value as everyone was able to reignite old partnerships and form new ones; essentially highlighting why the network would be an asset to any law enforcement agency and/or the public-private sector. The event included a live band, catered dinner, beverages, giveaways donated by our sponsors, and a Cuban cigar rolling station that embodied the very essence of the Miami culture.

On October 15, 2021, the next morning, the conference kicked off with a line-up of outstanding speakers that presented on an array of topics that covered intelligence, homeland security, terrorism, and critical infrastructure safety.

The Miami Police Shield had the honor to welcome Anthony Salisbury, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations, who presented on human smuggling and national security and Timothy R. Langan Jr., Assistant Director of the FBI Counterterrorism Division, who gave an assessment on the current national counterterrorism threat. Other speakers included Cheryl Louck, Chief of Chemical Security of CISA and Stacy Diaz, Special Agent of the FBI Cyber Task Force, who gave a superb presentation on cybercrimes. On an international scale, Brandon De Waele, Chief of Staff, Senior Policy Advisor of the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, delivered an outstanding presentation on an international response and perspective to terrorism.

As the 3rd Annual Global Shield Network Conference ended, the consensus of a successful event could be felt across the ballroom. We look forward to growth of the Global Shield Network and next year’s conference.
